Books & Boxes

I was awarded a ribbon at Brighton Art Guild's annual exhibit, Kaleidoscope. My art book "Venous Economies" was given third place in 3-D by juror Todd Burroughs. He said, "There’s an intimacy to reading, more immediate than visual art which many people may view at one time—a book is one person at a time. The art happens in the brain and in your thoughts, not just showing images but requiring interpretation as well. The book format is deep not only to the eye but also in the brain, and I love the mix of image with script and words. This also deals with a gut-wrenching topic, it goes to an intense space, yet it is quiet and intimate." The little book is about American slavery, and shown in the top left of this page.
