Hello!
I work in many media to create art. I want to convey feelings and communicate the spirit of living things. I also alter books, create art books, and write and illustrate my own children's books. My goals are to paint luscious pastels and oils, draw moving renderings of life, mix media to my heart's content, and write books with timeless messages that reflect truth.
I like to challenge myself, and I am strengthened by the support and encouragement of family, friends and groups of artists. I am the Coordinator of the Whitmore Lake Portrait Group, and current or past member of the Brighton Art Guild, Ann Arbor Area Pastelists, Great Lakes Pastel Society, Michigan Water Color Society, and others.
I write a blog about all things art, and often think it furthers the theme of an exhibit I named, "This Time, This Place, These People." What better tribute to them, their work and play, than to portray them and express their values. When the anxieties of the world weigh me down, I lighten my load with spiritual art that confirms good over evil. When this speaks to others, I am happy they are comforted and their faith deepened. These pieces are now on my other Web site, www.peggybrewer.com, including my Cross Series.
Born and raised in Detroit, I attended magnet school Cass Technical High School by invitation as a Science and Arts major with electives in Cass Tech's premiere art department, and graduated from Wayne State University with honors in American Studies. My career in communications combined writing with visuals, and was spent in Detroit and its suburbs working for major corporations with worldwide offices. I am a past president of the Detroit chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC). I often think I am the same type of artist as I was a writer--versatile and productive. I love to experiment.
Let my art speak for itself, and also see what others have told me, printed under the next tab, "They say...." I post often on Facebook, so use the icon at the top to connect there.
